March 2026
This Month is a monthly email newsletter where I share three happenings in and around Detroit. Get involved.
March 24 and beyond!
NCECA (The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts) is hosting its 60th conference in Detroit for 4 days and this town is about to covered in clay!!! There are dozens of exhibitions highlighting local, national, and even international ceramic artists during the conference and continuing afterwards. Here are a few highlights I’ve been made privy to by ceramic-oriented friends:
March 25 - April 26: SNACK TIME! @ the Jam Handy - a solo show by Detroit artist Sara Nishikawa
March 25 - March 28: CERAMAGANZA! @ Ceramic School - a pottery sale, a wood-kiln firing experience, and shows by Henry Crissman, Virginia Torrence, and more.
March 24 - March 28: BREEZE OVER THE LAKES @ Detroit Public Library Main Branch - a group show of artists from across Japan and the United States highlighting work inspired by Shigaraki ware, a celebrated Japanese ceramic tradition.
March 25 - March 29: INCANTATIONS: POTS THAT SING @ Warda Patisserie - a show by local artists Caroline Baron, Maurice Weeks and Klair Urbin.
