Poolside Performance: the Mirrored Glass Harp Trio
@ Cranbrook Art Museum Grounds, Bloomfield Hills
FreeDetroit has a legendary history of Black harpists and this trio of Ahya, AnJelic, and Ackeem are building off of that legacy. If you can’t make this and still want to get your harp on, check out the celebration of Alice Coltrane featuring harpist Brandee Younger on Friday, August 30 at the Detroit Jazz Festival (it’s free!) or listen to Dorothy Ashby’s 1968 album Afro-Harping.
